Community Meeting: What Does WCSO Accountability Look Like?!

ICPJ was asked by the Sheriff’s Office to facilitate the Accountability and Transparency Policy Action Team so that it would exist outside of the office. Members of our VOTE Caucus and Abolition & Harm Reduction circles have agreed to take on this effort. Join us for a community meeting where we will decide what accountability and transparency look like. We will hear about previous organizing efforts and questions still to be answered. We will identify areas where policy changes need to happen based on all that we know. And we will build a foundation for setting expectations for what a just public safety office should look like in Washtenaw County.

Sheriff Dyer will attend the session in order to listen to the community, but this is about naming what we expect to see. In a future meeting, she will have an opportunity to share policy actions she plans to take based on the listening sessions.
